Jamie McKelvie’s “Balancing Girl” print, from 2010.
An incredibly limited print run of 75 that sold extremely quickly - I still kick myself that I didn’t get one - Jamie is now auctioning the artist’s proof for Comic Relief. Because he has silly things like morals and ethics, Jamie won’t ever make legitimate prints of this available again, because that would be unfair to the people who bought it as a limited edition originally. So this is the one chance remaining to get it on your wall.
Aside from linking to the auction, I post it here because… well, look at it. Just look. It’s incredible. I’m wary of telling an artist friend that something they did three years ago is the best thing they’ve ever done (that suggests they’ve been going downhill since, which isn’t the intent), but an artist could work their whole lifetime and not come up with something as astonishingly, exquisitely well-composed as this.
Quite aside from the brilliance of the choreography, I think my favourite bit is actually the houses.
Just look.
(I wouldn’t share this, by the way, if I thought I in any way had any chance of matching whatever the top bid will turn out to be myself.)
